Osbornes’ ’67 Beaumont Custom

Feature of the Month – March 2015

Larry_OsborneI bought my ‘67 Beaumont Custom in 1970 from a used car lot called Gladstones; a small lot on Kingsway, in Vancouver, B.C.; a car lot which dealt in performance autos. As it was there was a 1967 Chevelle there as well (same price – $2500.00 – same power train, 327, 4 speed ).  I liked the dash in the Beaumont better so I bought it. The Beaumont had two previous owners and has been repainted once.

Back in 1967 a friend of mine bought a new 1967 Chevelle SS396 4 speed and I have wanted one ever since. I didn’t buy the big block because it was going to be my daily driver and at that time gas was 25 cents a gallon!

Over the years I have had the Beaumont painted, installed a modified 350, Muncie 4 speed, and a 12 bolt 4:10 rear end. At the time who knew that matching numbers would be important.

Donna and I only drive the Beaumont on weekends now but it has made many trips to Penticton, B.C. and Reno, Nevada over the years.

– Larry.

P.S. Thank you for the hard work that goes into producing the club magazine.
